The Ripcords

The Ripcords can be heard most weekends in CNY rippin’ through Roots, Rock-a-Billy, Country, Blues, Swing, and music influenced by both New Orleans, Bakersfield and more. Rex Lyons (guitar and vocals), Irv Lyons (guitar and vocals), Tom Witkowski (keyboards), Jay Gould (bass and vocals), and Steve Palumbo (drums) have performed events including the New York State Blues Festival, Taste of Syracuse, Central New York Jazz Fest, the Inner Harbor Block Party, and the Ganandagan Native American Festival.
The band and its members have opened for and played on bills with such noted musicians as Santana, Steve Miller, Little Feat, Dickie Betts, Blues Traveler, Ry Cooder, Rick Derringer, Phish, John Lee Hooker, Edgar Winter, Leon Russell, Kim Simmonds, Terrance Simien, Gene Taylor, Bill Kirchen, and Chip Taylor. In 2009 the Ripcords won a SAMMY for best Americana CD (The Fabulous Ripcords), They have been nominated for a Native American Music award, and their song “If You Love Me” is featured in the 2012 film Cooked Arrows.
